The intent behind these images is to document both the physical environment and community in and around Taupo. The town lies in a volcanic region and is subject to occasional earthquakes. It is also a very popular tourist destination, especially for New Zealanders, and attracts many major sporting events. Lake Taupo, the size of Switzerland, is a defining feature of the town and the major centre of activity.
